FTA: "Liberal, Obama supporter, capitalist. To paraphrase the Messiah's own famous line about war, Buffett's not against all taxes, he's just against dumb taxes, like ones leveled according to some arbitrary definition of what constitutes a "windfall.""

"Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said on Monday he would impose a windfall profits tax on U.S. oil companies as he sought political gain from Americans' pain over high gasoline prices.

"I'll make oil companies like Exxon pay a tax on their windfall profits, and we'll use the money to help families pay for their skyrocketing energy costs and other bills," the Illinois senator said."

I think that there should also be a windfall tax on politicians who make milions of dollars by writing books. If ever there was a definition of a windfall profit, royalties from a book written by a person on the taxpayer's payroll should head the list. Obama owes most of that money back to the government. Had he not been in office, no one would care what he had to say...

A lot of people still don't care what he has to say. Besides, what he says one day may not be what he says tomorrow.

I'm just waiting for him to throw his books under the bus.

Maybe it's time to cut legislative pay. Instead of having the richest folk in office, we could have middle class Americans. Cut that pay in half. Plenty of folk still would do it.

I've never been impressed by anything Warren Buffett has ever done except make money. He has no real political sense but I guess even he draws a line a liberals messing where they don't belong, in the economy. lol

Btw, I wonder how Buffett feels about nationalizing the oil companies?
