Bush has been the vessel of a failed series of ideologies and agendas that won't fade quietly into the annals of history even if the vessel itself does. Americans should indeed review and regret the last 7 1/2 years as no other period in our brief history. Bush will be gone soon, but his puppeteers have simply inserted their hands into the backsides of new willing marionettes. The brainwashed few cheerleaders who still sing his praises will find a new bag to hold their defecation. I see this is bio-diesel powered, but as a monument to the Cheney-Bush energy policy, it should instead consume mass quantities of oil and gas while leaking and emitting noxious fumes, perhaps the untreated sewerage line should dangle behind and spew it's contents on America's scenic byways and Mainstreets!

Congress will almost always have a worse rating than even the worst president. First the republicans will hate it because it is controlled by dems. And then a lot of dems will not like the fact that the republicans are doing their best to grind everything to a stop except more war spending or less rights for people. One thing to consider is that nearly half of those in congress are republicans and have an approval rating of half of the president.
If 80% of the citizenry are whining, isn't that a sign? It may indicate that approximately 60% of those that voted for the president are whiners and are liberals, using your analysis.

Actually, the teen pregnancy rate has been steadily declining for the past couple of decades, as has the abortion rate. During this time, sex education has overall become more and more 'liberal'. Several studies have shown abstinence-only education actually INCREASES the rate of pregnancy and STDs. The more comprehensive and frank the programs, the better the results (less harmful outcomes and even a slightly longer wait before choosing to become sexually active).
BTW, I'm not expecting Osama to fix anything. He's in Pakistan, remember?

1) The gas tax is 18.4 cents, not 18.4%.

And many Dems were against it back then too as just another 'band-aid' approach. It would have been a slight relief at the long-term expense of national infrastructure.
If you recall, Hillary(D) was also in favor of the tax holiday, she just wanted to pay for it through other means (I think it was an oil company tax hike, like THAT would pass!). A bad idea is a bad idea, regardless of from whom it comes.

1) Your intense partisanship is preventing you from thinking clearly. This is NOT a Democrat vs. Republican issue. In fact, Hillary Clinton proposed the same gas tax holiday that John McCain did. This is a question of short-term and long-term effectiveness, NOT party politics.
2) Many Democrats in 2006 opposed it as many oppose the gas tax holiday today.
3) If you had read your own article (and it's clear that you did not), you would have noticed a PROFOUND difference between the legislation Democrats proposed in 2006 and the one McCain is proposing today. In 2006, Democrats proposed compensating for the tax revenue by lifting tax breaks to oil companies. McCain has NO PLAN for how to compensate for lost revenue in light of record budget deficits and 2 wars that need to be funded.

Gotta do something...We keep farting around and doing nothing which is what we're doing, the price of gas will hit 10 bucks before you know it...We need a "band-aid" to buy us some time to get and produce alternative energy sources so we can stop relying on foreign oil so much...But some relief is STILL better than none ! 18.4 cents on a gallon is a lot of savings regardless of what ybdekdfkdkdkdkskslakds is suggesting...Drilling here in America is tapping into our own energy sources and the point is not to keep relying on oil or coal, but give us some friggin' relief for crying out loud...You libs keep quoting sources and reports from economist and gas experts from liberal soures suggesting none of these things will work, but just as in Global warming, I can find just as many reports and economist saying that it WILL work and it will provide us with relief, so in essence we are habing this one big giant peeing contest and nothing is getting down...

And the signficant difference between the Democrats' proposed gas tax holiday of 2006 and McCain's gas tax holiday of today, which FSU continues to ignore, is that Democrats HAD A PLAN for compensating for the lost gas tax revenue.
According to FSU's own article, "Democrats say the money will be made up by cutting six billion dollars in tax breaks to oil firms."
McCain, on the other hand, has NO PLANS for making up the lost revenue, which is disturbing in light of Bush's RECORD budget deficits and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that McCain favors funding.

Agree or not, if you or anyone else on Propeller were personally mentioned as the butt of that joke, I would say that it crossed the line . Public figures and ideologies are in my opinion prime targets to be poked fun at or even insulted, not individual propeller members. That is my belief anyway.
Blind Voting is when someone asks you to vote for an article and you do without actually reading it. I'm not sure how that applies here. Have a good one, or perhaps a cold one SOTM.

If you look at the polls for Congress before the 06 elections, when it was still a Republican-controlled Congress, you'll see it still had a relatively low approval rate.
But, once Obama is in office, I'm sure that approval rating will go up...not dramatically, of course, but it will go higher...

Problem is he's not going to be in office, so there may still be gridlock there...
McCain may be able to pull them together, however, based on him being more "middle of the road" regarding certain policies
We'll see. I'm not sure I really give a crap what Congress serves up to McCain, but if we can throw them a bone here and there, maybe we can get things moving....I'm hoping McCain will end up being more conservative and adhering to his constituents, rather than buckling and giving in to liberal poisons that don't make a lick of sense...

Doesn't matter who's elected...Congress will continue to move at its snail pace, except for the gas, energy and housing issues. We might actually see some quick action there. But, the faster you move, the more likely mistakes are made...
As far as McCain adhering to his more conservative constituents, I doubt he will, just like I don't expect Obama to stay as liberal as he's been. Middle of the road, otherwise know as "blah" will continue as usual...
We've had 8 years of slow-moving conservatism...let's have some slow-to-moderate moving liberalism for a change...

It's laughable that neocons continue to parade Congress' low approval ratings ignoring the fact that a little less than half of the members in Congress are REPUBLICANS and that Congress' low approval ratings are partially attributed to the fact that Democrat-sponsored legislation has been obstructed and vetoed by Republican congressmen and Bush. Ironically, this has become the rallying cry for the neocons in an attempt to excuse a presidential administration that is woefully short on accomplishments of its own to boast.
Furthermore, there is a fundamental difference between the job approval rating of an individual (like Bush) and that of an institution (like Congress) some simpletons simply can't distinguish. Bush's INDIVIDUAL job approval rating reflects DIRECTLY on the public's perception of his job performance.

However, Congress' COLLECTIVE "job approval rating" is more of a reflection of the public's disdain for the institution of Congress (and its current impotence in standing up to the White House). That is why almost all members of Congress poll higher INDIVIDUALLY than Congress as an institution polls COLLECTIVELY.
