"Carl Lindner co-hosted a $25,000-per-person fundraiser for McCain. The event raised about $2 million; Lindner also serves on McCain's Ohio Victory Team.

A report by the Organization of American States states that Lindner's firm also engaged in arms trafficking, helping to deliver 3,000 Nicaraguan AK-47 rifles and millions of rounds of ammunition to the AUC in 2001. According to federal prosecutors, when company officials realized the arrangement was illegal, they switched to making the payments in cash.

McCain has described FARC as 'one of the worst' terrorist groups."

"[McCain won't remove Carl Lindner from his campaign team and won't donate funds raised by Lindner to charity,] arguing that he shouldn't be held accountable for Lindner's actions. But Lindner is more than just a passing acquintance, and McCain has done favors on Lindner's behalf in the past.

McCain promoted a deal in Arizona's Tonto National Forest involving property part-owned by Lindner's firm. And McCain's chief political adviser, Charlie Black, lobbied for Linder's firm on two separate occasions in 2001."

Is this why in the middle of a Presidential campaign McCain chose to go to Columbia and make this an issue? Good find. I noticed too that McCain is really touchy on his military service records. I really think there's some nefarious stuff going on behind the scenes of the McCain campaign.

There`s a reason the Bushies spread rumors about the other POWs giving McCain the nickname `songbird`. The Bushies said it was because McCain sang like a bird while a POW.

In fact, it was McCain who, to save his own arse put the military operations in jeopardy by telling the VC right away that his daddy was the admiral. He made himself invaluable as a POW so he got special treatment, meanwhile, he put the Admiral and others in a precarious spot.

Not that McCain did not suffer, but it was not like the other POWs who did not have a gets-a-pas... card.

Now McCain betrays the troops again by voting AGAINST VA funding, against equal time at home, and not even showing up for ten Iraq votes despite being the #1 cheerleader for Bush`s invasion.

"McCain, who has portrayed himself as a crusader against special interests, is surrounded by lobbyists. Doug Goodyear, McCain's selection for GOP Convention Chair, is CEO of DCI Group, a consulting firm that earned $3 million last year lobbying for ExxonMobil and GM.

Goodyear's firm was paid $348,000 to represent Burma's military junta, which had been strongly condemned by the State Department for its human-rights record and remains in power today. His firm created a PR campaign to burnish the junta's image, denouncing 'falsehoods' by the Bush administration that the regime engaged in rape and other abuses.

Goodyear's firm also pioneered so-called 527 groups, precisely the kind of operations that McCain, in his battle for campaign-finance reform, has denounced.

Ironically, Goodyear was chosen for the post after the McCain campaign nixed another candidate, Paul Manafort, who runs a lobbying firm with McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis."

Employers of lobbyists are OK. Obama has taken $15 million from lawyers/law firms, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, and many of those firms employ lobbyists. Clinton has taken slightly more from this group ($15.4 million) while McCain has taken less ($4.2 million).

Employees of firms that lobby are OK. Take Tom Daschle. The former senator was an early and avid Obama supporter and is now a national campaign co-chair. Daschle is not himself a federally registered lobbyist, but he works at Alston & Bird, a firm that employs federally registered lobbyists and raked in $2.6 million in lobbying fees in 2004.

"Longtime uber-lobbyist Charles R. Black Jr. is John McCain's man in Washington. Black was Jonas Savimbi's man in the capital city. His lobbying firm received millions from the brutal Angolan guerrilla leader and took advantage of Black's contacts in Congress and the White House. Black and his partners were at times registered foreign agents for a remarkable collection of U.S.-backed foreign leaders whose human rights records were sometimes harshly criticized.

What the firm achieved was quickly dubbed 'Savimbi chic.' Foreign-agent records document hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on behalf of UNITA, including $76,491 for limousines, $13,675 for photography and $216,186 for lodging at the Grand Hotel and the Waldorf-Astoria.

McCain 'portrays himself as Mr. Clean, and then he has all these lobbyists around him who are connected to a lot of not-so-clean people.'"

McCain has no scruples. He'd support Hitler if no one

makes a scene. He would have stayed on supporting John Hagee, but when the heat started to climb he bolted. It really doesn't matter what the issue is; torture, Geneva Convention, racism, bigotry, terrorist connections ... if the money comes in he'll take it. But when and if our slanted press finally calls him on his stuff, he flip flops better than most fish. I bet he doesn't even have to hold his breath under water any more; he's been flip flopping so long that he must have grown gills by now.

Here's a short video on McCain's visit. Interesting is the fact that he says he wants to reestablish ties with South America, but he only visited Columbia. This ties into your story very well. Another thing I might note. Joe Lieberman seems to be with McCain almost everywhere he goes. Are you thinking that Lieberman could be the VP? I am. Here's the link.

The only reason Lieberman won't be VP is the republican base whom McCain is shaky with anyway, would not accept it. He may be a neocon, but "his kind" is excluded from membership in their clubhouse. If McCain were to become "Der Decider II", you'd surely see him in a cabinet position.

Can you find out why I have this problem with just some of the people who post? I'm sure its not you.

This fits right in with usual US efforts in military imperialism for big business. Remember that (although the corporate media doesn't tell you) about 40 members of Columbia's congress (including members of Uribe's family) are indicted/under investigation for right-wing paramilitary activity and/or drug trafficking.

By the way, you shouldn't imagine that this is just the "right-wing" in the US. Lindner is heavily involved with Democrats as well. We have to clean out the stables in both parties - and with all the "compromises" he is making it is pretty clear that Obama is not up to the job.

Chiquita, Its Workers and Colombia's Death Squads

Chiquita International is no stranger to us as through the years we have tracked the various nefarious activities of the infamous banana company. To anyone familiar with the history of 20th century Central American political intrigues, economics and land ownership the name should be no stranger. Utilizing the CIA and the U.S. Marines the company was able to establish a host of "banana republics" in the region throughout the 20th century....

The drug war, like the cold war, is a trumped up excuse to bilk money from the public. Make something scarce or more difficult to get and the price of it goes through the roof.

(Oil for instance). Who benefits from the "drug war"? Those who provide the product, as their product would be worth no more than coffee or bannanas without the restrictions. Without the money, there is no incentive. No crime. No problem.

            Duh.

There are plenty of indications that drug distribution is merely another profitable venture American "big business" and government has it's fingers firmly implanted in. (Look at Noriega -He received intelligence and counterintelligence training at Fort Gulick in 1967, and also a course in psychological operations (Psyops) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was merely keeping too much for himself, that's why he was removed. There is no evidence that moral incentives were involved whatsoever, he was the CIA's boy til he got caught with his fingers in the till.)

I don't think McCain could find his way out of a closet with four doors. Notice that he finished at the absolute bottom of his military class, I believe it was around number 795 in a class of 800.

Up to a couple days ago Nelson Mandela was removed from the terrorist list of America. The Western world can commit any crime, kill any amount of people still they call themselves civilized world and they do it only in the name of freedom and Democracy.

Daylight, On C-Span just a few minutes ago, the discussion was about Good and Bad presidents. The Guest was obviously a Republican type (he refused to discuss Bush's Presidency)so a caller asked him what three presidents contributed the most to the debt of the United States - Wasn't it Reagan, Bush and Bush asked the caller?

The Guest squirmed and finally admitted yes. Then he set about to try to make excuses.

Currently the two best communication places to see the "real" world are the Internet and C-Span.

That will last as long as the Government doesn't get content contol of them.

I'm exaggerating of course but perhaps a better term would be lazy.

Too lazy to READ the source of the topic being debated. Too lazy to THINK about it.

Obama is the true terrorist enabler, preaching appeasement towards Iran and sympathy for his forebearers, the Muslim umma. His presidency would deliver the United States into the hands of Bin Laden. Only a patriot like John McCain stands in the way of the subjugation and selling-out ofour glorious republic. On this July Fourth, reflect on my words and praise God that he bless us all the wisdom to reject an impious Muslim interloper as President of these United States. All is Known

Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) is on a terrorist watch list and is barred from entering the US presumably because he contributed to Palestinian charities, at least one of which (without his knowledge) diverted some of its funds to the PLO. Lindner knowingly contributed funds to a terrorist group. Will he get the same treatment as the Homeland Security gave to Cat Stevens and be placed on a terrorist watch list?

Obama is just another of Satan's familiars. (not that I really believe in Satan, but it has a nice ring to it, don't you think?)
