Likely voters are a better gauge of poll numbers, but I am still interested in why Obama has gone from a 15 point lead to a 4 point lead in a week. I know he has adopted many of President Bush's issues. NAFTA, Faith based Inititives, retro active immunity for Telecoms, steady in Iraq instead of early retreat, but does he really think defying his own base will garner enough votes to win in November? It won't. He is a foolish little man to abandon his loyal bse.

The polls that had Obama with a double-digit lead recently - Newsweek (15) and LA Times/Bloomberg (12) - are notorious for oversampling Democrats. Gallup and Rasmussen have shown a fairly tight race, with Obama maintaining a lead throughout.
Given the circumstances (Bush unpopularity, gas prices, Iraq) Obama should be doing far better. That can't be good news for his campaign.

I agree. I was joking. I read polls every day, but I know they don't count until we get to see the both candidates without scripts in debates, examine their voting records, and see what they have always believed in not what they say while they are dancing for votes.
