The Founding Fathers, being mild revolutionaries, set up a Blackstonian Constitution in which law is a shield of the people and not a weapon in the hands of government. The Founders balanced this restraint on government with reformist democracy that works against status quo hierarchies.

    Guys,

Sorry; but the politicians and greed, have turned it all around. What started out, as good for the common man; has been both defiled and screwed up, by greed and politicians.

Exactly. Even the SCOTUS in its recent 2nd Amendment decision missed the point.

      10th Amendment:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Ratified at the same time as the 2nd Amendment, thus "the right of the people to keep and bear arms..." is the right of the people, not the state.

Its sad that it has to be phrased as the state vs. the people. The State should BE the people.

What the heck is a 'mild' revolutionary, and how would such a timid creature even show up in a history book footnote?

They were getting rid of their king, and their kingship.

They were setting themselves up as their own masters.

They pledged their lives and bank counts to overthrow the government.

          Mild!

When the people refuse to "Claim" their rights, they lose them. They lose them because there are always those that would take advantage of any opportunity to profit illegally if the keepers of the law don't remain vigilant.

This is what has happened in America. And it is the same thing that has happened in History to every leading political Government that has ever existed over time.

People lose their Freedom because they are inept, indifferent, or ignorant, not because they are afraid to defend it.

Once a Government is over the hump in its life cycle, and we may be there already, one would think the people would realize it, but they seem to take a mentality that- if its not happening to them at the moment, it will always be someone else.

The day does arrive when it is them, but then its too late.
