The "planting" of false rumors and fear is being perpetrated by FOX News, right-wing talk radio, and most of the mainstream media.
The propaganda machine of the Bush administration has been well-oiled by the media for most of the last 7 years. That article by Rove that was published this week is the most recent proof of that.
It has been well-documented that the White House was feeding stories to news agencies who were repeating them without reviewing them or editing them or even determining whether or not they were accurate or true.
Then it is revealed that the Pentagon coached the many "retired military experts" on what to say about going to war in Iraq and then about the war itself.
The saddest thing about all this is how so many Americans have swallowed whole the fearmongering and the lies that have been repeated. Too many Americans have allowed themselves to be brainwashed by the white house and the neocons elite.

I heard Howard Dean scream on election night. I heard, and have read transcripts of the silly Wesley Clark statement. If Algore did not say he invented the internet, what did he say that was so misconstrued? And why didn't he deny it? Right, Bubba, why are so many Americans not as brilliant as you?

Dean was not screaming. The television crews recorded him by plugging into an audio source picking up Dean's microphone, NOT the sound of or in the room.

If you actually DID read the ENTIRE Wesley Clark transcript of what he said, you would know that he did NOT impugn McCain's military record.

You also did NOT read the posted article for this thread.
"What General Clark ACTUALLY said was that Mr. McCain's war service, though heroic, didn't necessarily constitute a qualification for the presidency."
The statement Al Gore DID NOT make was misconstrued FOR him by the right-wing media. He has nothing to deny because he NEVER said it in the FIRST place!

Why are so many Americans so ignorant of the facts and so thick-headed and brainwashed as you?

Howard Dean's "scream was amplified by the media.
You have not read the transcripts, unless there are some "edited" transcripts floating out there. An based on your comments that you don't read anything you don't agree with, that probably makes you a liar.
And Al Gore's only claim was that he helped draft the bill that made the internet accessible to the general public, which of course, someone on the right twisted into the claim that he claimed that he invented the internet.
