Not only did Congress score the all-time low approval rating, is also scored the all-time high "poor job" rating ...
"Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category."
Of course, the liberals will whine about "Republicans blocking" legislation, but they do so while conveniently ignoring the fact Democrats claimed they would push bipartisanship and work with Republicans. Yet another false promise.

The two party system isn't really a failure. The problem, people can't make a decision who or what they are. Over the last few month McCain has decided to become a conservative and Barack who was the most liberal Senator ever has now been accused of being the third term for Bush.
Look around, it's a problem everywhere. The nondenominational churches are growing while big names are dying. People think if you walk down the center of every issue it's a great thing, it's not.
What people are really mad about are the Dems congress. They whined about the war in Iraq and how they'd pull everyone out. Their single promise campaign got them in office but the didn't do that. Now that oil is $140/barrel, we need to drill, Nancy and Harry have promised to kill everything and prevent drilling. The system will correct itself with the next few elections. The GOP may lose the White House but the inaction of congress will give it back to the GOP.

Several sayings always come to mind when people talk about being in the middle
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
- Michael Evans
There's nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos. Jim Hightower
Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by traffic from both sides. - Margaret Thatcher
Show me a person who is not an extremist about some things, who is a "middle-of-the-roader" in everything, and I will show you someone who is insecure.

The problem is the concept that everyone falls into 2 categories. Most people have no representation for their moderate or alternate views. Unless you are a raving leftist or rightist, no one in government cares about what you want. The 2 party system is, was, and always be unworkable.

This Democratic Congress is like Sen Obama. They don't want to take a stand on anything so they cannot be called on it before Nov 4th.

The House passed the Global Poverty Act which will cost $845 billion over the next 13 yrs
Reid is supposed to bring it up for a vote this week
I wonder if he'll have the nerve given this poll?
Wait until the general public gets wind of this boondoggle
I'll be surprised if Congressional approval didn't fall to near ZERO!

"...cost $845 billion over the next 13 yrs"
That's a lie!
"TRUTH: The legislation neither authorizes nor obligates the federal government to spend more money. Rather, it seeks to put our current foreign aid programs into a comprehensive strategy involving trade policy, debt cancellation, and private sector efforts to ensure that existing U.S. programs are more effective and efficient. The legislation calls for a strategy to determine the right mix of aid, trade and debt policies and investment. The strategy also includes the private sector, civil society organizations, and the developing countries themselves as critical components in global development. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated the bill would cost less than $1 million to implement."

How low can the go?
The amazing thing is that most of them will be reelected. I don't think it's the two party system at fault it's the voters, the people who send these weasels to Washington who are at fault. Most folks think it's not their weasel that is the problem but the other guy's weasel is the one who messes things up. I for one know here in my state it's my weasels who are definitely part of the problem. I've never voted for any of them but they keep getting elected. Yeah, they are all democrats.

I live in Wisconsin and feel your pain. Look at our state county by county. We're rather conservative, until you get to Milwaukee and Dane counties. Both are flaming liberal strongholds. Because both hold such huge numbers of Dems, the state ends up falling to the dems. That plus the voter fraud. There's has been a history of Dem operatives buying votes for smokes, slashing GOP tires the day of election and many cases of dead people still voting. The Milwaukee Police presented a very accurate report showing somewhere around 4000 cases of voter fraud in the 2000 elections. That would have put Bush over the top without Florida. Yet the DNC won't permit a voter ID bill. Fraud is a DNC word for victory.

I just moved out of Wisconsin. Democrat Governor Jim Doyle is a well-known crook and con artist. Yet they just keep putting him in office election after election. So many around him have gone to prison, and it's well known he has accepted bribes for Indian Casinos and other projects.
But, the liberals just love their crooks, especially in Wisconsin. The repressive tax policies there don't help, either. Among the highest in the nation.

There is an interesting phenomenon here. While people tend to rate Congress as a whole very poorly, they tend to rate their OWN representatives fairly well.
I think the current low rating of the Congress is over frustration that Congress 'should do something' about soaring fuel prices.
I wonder what the 'approval rating' of the oil industry would be?

You can drone on all you want, but most people know exactly why this congress hasn't been able to effect many changes. They should've gotten rid of every repugnicon in the senate and house, but they were too scared to do it, now they'll have to wait and rectify that error in November. Toootahlooo, boys!

Which should be no surprise. Liberals idolize Europe where only the elite can afford to drive. Gas is 8-9 dollars a gallon there so why should it be any different her? Right? Wrong! It's about time the American public woke up and realized that these liars are nothing more than elitist bastards with only their best interest in mind.

Amazing. Just two weeks ago it was 13%, still low but not single digits.
Even more amazing, all Rasmussen was looking for was "good" or "excellent". Congress couldn't get a "good"??!!
The Presidency takes a lot of heat for things it can't control, and Congress really gets a pass for things that are their job. I don't see this getting a lot of press, but we'll see. Maybe term limits is a good idea.

"Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category."
Most voters polled said Congress is doing a poor job. Not only did it score the all-time low approval rating, it scored the all-time high "poor job" rating.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Democrats will pick up seats in both houses. I have heard the saying quoted before, but how does accomodating fools, shamed or not, help the situation?
Originally, the writers of the constitution felt that choosing senators was too important to leave to the masses; only representatives were chosen by direct vote of the population. Democrats are proving that the framers of our constitution may have been correct in their assessment.
I am not advocating repeal of the 17th amendment. One can only hope for an informed electorate but that hope has grown fainter over the years.

Have you watched TV today?
T. Boone Pickens has been on several shows and he has even paid to air his own ad on energy
He has launched a website about his plan for energy independence and wants people to join and push the plan
Very interesting. Maybe he can get the attention of Congress

Boone's plan is a PIPE DREAM!
Does he really think the animal rights people will allow him to turn the entire Midwest into a 'wind farm'?
The Great Plains aren't just a wind corridor; they're also the MAJOR migratory corridor for a lot of bird species.
His windmills will slice and dice birds by the bunch; I can see it now, when the first bald eagles, whooping cranes and California Condors get chopped up in those things, just how nuts the eco-wackos will go!
The Endangered Species Act will stop this plan in its tracks.
I'm not against windmills, but I AM against government subsidy of them. I say, let Pickens build his windmills, if he can, and compete with ALL the abundant energy supplies we have in this country: coal (200 years worth of reserves), nuclear(we are among the world's top producers of uranium), AND OIL (we are the world's NUMBER THREE PRODUCER of oil, more than Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Venezuela, Nigeria, Mexico, etc.).

Well at least they are good at doing nothing. Now we know.
However we the voters put them there and let them 'play around' with our money and our nation.
I think it is time 'we the people' put them on a short leash by maybe demanding term limits.
Take away the goodies by throwing out the cookie jar lobbyists.
Make them do something worth while. If they don't perform to our satisfaction, simply send them home early to look for another job.

A pleasant thought, icono. Although they are similar to the country's plumbers, electricians and carpenters, it is not so easy to just fire them and look in the phone book for new ones.

This was an interesting finding in the poll:
"Most voters (72%) think most members of Congress are more interested in furthering their own political careers. Just 14% believe members are genuinely interested in helping people."

Couple things I've noticed...
a.) Where are all the friggin' libs tonight ? Where's Mesodufus, Deadxxxmanxxxretarded, Gloppy, and Sushi- Cushi ? Where are they when stories like these come out ? I don't see a single one in this thread - not one...I'll tell ya where they are...They are hiding like the cowards they are...
b.) Nancy Pelosi today announced that we should release some of our national oil reserves to help "ease our pain at the pump" thus increasing supply...Increasing supply ? Isn't that the very thing that Osama said would NOT drop the price of gas ? LMAO !! Republicans and conservatives want to drill now domestically and drop the price because we know (because we're smarter than dumba$$ libs) that increasing supply is going to drop the price....We say it and libs disagree, Pelosi says something about increasing supply and it's suddenly this giant light bulb that goes off over these teeny-brained liberals heads...
It's truly laughable...
