Hey, go for it! Get Ken Starr on it, give him a billion dollars or two or three and have a typical Repuke investigation.
I'll bet instead of shredding his files or erasing his tapes, he'll let an investigator go through the whole transaction and find some good. ol' fashioned competition between lenders.
If he's guilty of breaking the law, lying, or obstructing justice, he'll have even more solid qualifications to be Dumbya's successor.

Teech, after all the lies of Bill clinton's corruption upheld by the right, but totally unsubstantiated by 7 years of investigation by Ken starr... all the repugs could blow up was an illicit affair... truly the Repugs have no scruples at all! The true party of terrorism, the repugs, what do you expect?

I pay 4.8% and 5.1% on my two houses. I got a better rate than Obama. Guess the right wing funded judicial legal attack dogs will be filing on me as well.
Until cons have all the money (already done) and all the power...control the senate....they will never rest.
350 million dollar retirement bonus to the CEO of exon in 2006, that's ok, but let obama recieve a half a percent discount on a mortgage, OMG.

Looks like a non-story to me. There's no date as to when the mortgage was received...a year or two ago the rates might have been lower than the 5.625 he got for a single-family residence.
I just went to www.bankrate.com to check out mortgage rates for my area.
Now, many bankers/lenders have a range of programs, that offer a range of interest rates, as well. It's quite easy to shop around, and one can get a few rates even lower than the standard range shown, if one were to look around further and deeper.
It could possibly be Obama, or his accountant/mortgage lender looked around for the best rate; there's no way of telling that, of course. Had he looked deeper, an even lower rate might have been gotten.
I think this "story" has come to light only because donations from the lender's employees to the Obama campaigns were $71,000...

Agreed. Non story. It's likely Obama was flush with cash and was able to qualify for the lower rate. Average mortgage rates presuppose average down payments. I think JW should have given the senator the courteous option of explaining the loan before trying to hype a story.
Plus, you could open beer bottles in the butt cracks of NT execs. They're as tight and conservative as they come, financially speaking. Those...I won't say bastards but just short of it...wouldn't extend favorable rates to their own mothers.

You don't learn anything about Obama in this article. Just that someone filed a complaint.
I could just as easily file a civil lawsuit suing you for molesting my goat.
That wouldn't say anything about you. Or would it?

Obviously, you haven't been following this issue, but you've proven to be willfully ignorant before.
I guarantee if it were McCain and not Obama, you and the rest of your rabidly liberal buddies would be all over it. It'd probably be pinned as a story recommended by anchors.
Now, I could have posted the much more biased story where I first saw it, but unlike you libs, I prefer using as unbiased a source as possible, so I posted the one from The Hill.

I could have posted this one instead ...
http://www.redstate.com/stories/elections/2008/...
"As noted in the complaints, Northern Trust has supported Barack Obama's political campaigns for elected office since 1990. In addition to the $71,000 Northern Trust employees have donated to Obama, the Northern Trust political action committee gave $1,250 to Senator Obama's 2004 campaign for the United States Senate."
"According to Judicial Watch, Northern Trust Vice President John O'Connell essentially admitted the company provided Obama preferential loan terms because of his position in the U.S. Senate:
"'A person's occupation and salary are two factors; I would expect those are two things we would take into consideration,' O'Connell told The Washington Post. 'This was a business proposition for us.'"

"'Americans ought to be suspicious when a United States Senator such as Barack Obama, obtains a sweetheart mortgage deal,' said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. 'We have serious concerns that Senator Obama's mortgage may have violated the law and Senate ethics rules.'"
"Obama has tried to spin his questionable mortgage deal as nothing more than the lender competing for Obama's business:
"'Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said the rate was adjusted to account for a competing offer from another lender and other factors.'
"I'm still worried about those 'other factors' and 'other opportunities.' Those 'factors' and 'opportunities' could be anything, including special access to a grateful U.S. Senator or a President."

Obama gets a lower interest rate than most and you have great distress that a Senator would stoop, yes stoop so low as to get an interest rate lower than say McCain.
I'll be watching for your blast of McCain for being one of the Keating Five who swindled the American Public of around two Billion dollars. Yeah that's the same McCain whos wife and father in law took hundreds of Thousands from Keating himself.
And oh yes, the same McCain that has Carl Linder on his side, you know that Carl Linder who deals in Arms and Ammo to the Columbian group AUC who are fighting the FARC for control of the Columbian Drug Trade, you know good old Carl who is McCains Campaign Manager in Ohio and one of his major Financial backers, and Doug Goodyear, McCains choice for Chairman of the upcoming Republican Convention, yeah Doug in bed with the major Oil Corporations who are as we speak working mightily to steal Iraq's Oil - I'm running out of characters literally and figuratively - Continued

The New York Times ran an article on January 28, 2008 revisiting the scandal in addition to some other allegations of inappropriate behavior by McCain. Robert S. Bennett, whom McCain had hired to represent him in this matter, defended McCain's character and was one of many people who criticized the piece. Bennett, who was the special investigator during the Keating Five scandal that The Times revisited in the article, said that he fully investigated McCain back then and suggested to the Senate Ethics Committee not to pursue charges against McCain because of "no evidence against him."
Let me repeat....THE SENATE ETHICS COMMITTEE COMMITTEE DID NOT PURSUE CHARGES AGAINST McCAIN BECAUSE OF LACK OF EVIDENCE...........that's LACK OF EVIDENCE...........

McCain dumped is first wife and mother of his children to marry a 100 million dollar liquor wife, and lobbist for the big liquor industry, voting time and again against the Mothers ADD initiatives.
McCain; elitist son of a son of a admiral, military man, way to old to be effective, confusing Alkida with Arizona.

Jukebox John Keeps Changing His Tune
It's obvious that the McCain campaign and the RNC have decided to go after Barack Obama as a flip-flopper. What's equally obvious, though, that Republicans couldn't have chosen a worse narrative.
McCain & Co. seemed to stumble on this line of attack almost by accident. They'd experimented with a variety of memes in recent months, none of which had any real salience. The right settled on "flip-flopper," in large part because it's the closest available, already-written Republican narrative, and in part because McCain staffers haven't been able to think of anything else.
The irony, of course, is that the McCain campaign couldn't have picked a more hypocritical line of attack. For John McCain to accuse anyone of excessively changing policy positions is a bit like George W. Bush attacking someone's grammar.

Or Dick Cheney whining about a political figure being overly secretive.
After working on this project for a few months, I'm pleased to report that we now have a whopping 61 policy reversals from the Republican nominee. If McCain wants to argue that flip-flops are an example of a political leader who can't be trusted to keep his word or honor his commitments, McCain might as well drop out of the race now.

1. McCain thought Bush's warrantless-wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.
2. McCain insisted that everyone, even "terrible killers," "the worst kind of scum of humanity," and detainees at Guantanamo Bay, "deserve to have some adjudication of their cases," even if that means "releasing some of them." McCain now believes the opposite.
3. He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country."
4. In February 2008, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.
5. McCain was for closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay before he was against it.
6. When Barack Obama talked about going after terrorists in Pakistani mountains with predators, McCain criticized him for it. He's since come to the opposite conclusion.

Foreign Policy
7. McCain was for kicking Russia out of the G8 before he was against it.
8. McCain supported moving "towards normalization of relations" with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.
9. McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.
10. McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.
11. McCain is both for and against a "rogue state rollback" as a focus of his foreign policy vision.
12. McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty's behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.
13. McCain was against divestment from South Africa before he was for it.

14. McCain recently claimed that he was the "greatest critic" of Rumsfeld's failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as "a mission accomplished." In March 2004, he said, "I'm confident we're on the right course." In December 2005, he said, "Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course."
15. McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions, concluding, on multiple occasions, that a Korea-like presence is both a good and a bad idea.
16. McCain said before the war in Iraq, "We will win this conflict. We will win it easily." Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was "probably going to be long and hard and tough."

17. McCain has repeatedly said it's a dangerous mistake to tell the "enemy" when U.S. troops would be out of Iraq. In May, McCain announced that most American troops would be home from Iraq by 2013.
18. McCain was against expanding the GI Bill before he was for it.
Domestic Policy
19. McCain defended "privatizing" Social Security. Now he says he's against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)
20. McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn't.
21. McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.
22. He argued the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party's policy making. Now he believes the opposite.

23. In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won't commit to supporting a regulation bill he's co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris' former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.
24. McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.
25. McCain's first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn't be "rewarded" for acting "irresponsibly." His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position
26. McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn't be allowed.
27. McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., before he supported it.
28. McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he's pro-ethanol.

Obama Received Affirmative Action To Attend Columbia
Despite having admitted to daily smoking weed and smoking crack,Presidential candidate Obama still got admitted to Columbia University.
According to Columbia records, Obama was admitted despite thirteen Whites, seven Asians and six Hispanics having better grades and being more qualified.
According to admissions official Michael McHenry, "We were pressured to have Africans attend our university to get more government funds." "He (Obama) was obviously unqualified but we needed the funds from the government."

Obama says he was still goofing off for the first two years of college, which he spent at Occidental in Los Angeles. He continued to play basketball, which friends say he is still quite good at, and was involved in other organized activities. He also spent "a lot of time having fun."
so much for working hard

Obama's vol. 104 is the least-cited volume of the Harvard Law Review in the last 20 years
I've run electronic searches to determine the number of times Obama's volume 104, and every other volume of the Harvard Law Review published during the last 20 years, has been cited in all law reviews during each subsequent year for which full data is available (starting in the year after the last issue of each volume appeared, and running through 2006, the last year for which full citation data is currently available).

Believe this, this current rebublican regime is the most corrupt secretive regime ever to infest the white house, politicizing the justice department, no bid contracts to haliburton where cheney was CEO, 400 million to fund terrorism in Iran, trying to stirr up trouble to justify a massive bombing campaign, this a substitute for diplomacy, lying to start a neocon zionist fantasy nationbuilding Israel friendly war in Iraq and sending 4500 to death for a lie, 30,000 severly injured, 10 times that with PTS, enriching the military industrial complex, awarding Boeing with 100 BILLION dollar contract to devolop a missle shield defence which has been proven time and again to NOT WORK, and now installing that over massive protest in the Checz republic.
And you are bitching like the republican shill you are, that Obama is only paying 5.3% on an intrest rate. McCain can pay cash for a million dollar house. Cindy McCain spends more that that on shoes and tips.

Like it's going to go anywhere with her. Boxer was among the top 24 involved in the House bank scandal. On March 1, 1992 the Sacramento Bee quoted Boxer as admitting she didn't pay enough attention to her House bank account. More specifically, that meant 143 bad checks totaling $41,417 over a three-year period that she had written on the House bank.
She's you're typical liberal Dem, who never votes outside of party lines. She would never go after the Messiah Obama. BTW-before you start with the talk radio attacks, my staff started calling him that last winter, way before.

Exactly: DEMOCRATS faced a sleaze scandal of their own after the FBI said yesterday that it had secretly filmed a New Orleans congressman accepting a bribe of $100,000 (£53,000), most of which was later found in his kitchen freezer.
Jefferson was charged with a global campaign to solicit bribes, obstruct justice and engage in racketeering, Justice Department officials said Monday.
