Florida, we are making a BIG mistake. He is a socialist. What we need is LESS gov't interference in our lives not more. He reads well from a teleprompter that doesn't qualify him to be Pres. Think!!! We are in this mess because of the knuckleheads we've already voted into Congress. What are we thinking?? Are we thinking?? "Big Corporations" = the U.S. Federal Gov't.

vis, you are right on something: the repugs you elected for the 109th "Do NOthing" Congress did let big business write the laws of the land to give us the mess we have now. And, what is left of these Un-American Repugs have become obstructionist to any Dem efforts to correct the repug/Big Business ills! Oh, if you only had a conscience, a brain and less greed!

What mess are we in?
A war we don't benefit from?
A declining dollar?
A declining world reputation?
A declining national infrastructure?
A dead-in-the-water economy?
These disasters are the direct result of the Bush administration policies of the last 8 years.
You can only blame the dems for not having the power or presence to prevent them.
Well, you could only blame them and keep your soul honest, I mean.

vlstl - "He is a socialist." I have never heard anyone accuse McCain of being a socialist. Yes, he wants to eternally prolong the Iraq War. He is for more electronic surveillance. He wants to interfere w/ women's rights. He wants to curtail our civil rights more. Sounds to me like McCain is more of a fascist than a socialist. Please get your terminology straight.

The party of torture, preemptive war, foreign prisons, rendition, and eavedropping without a warrant should be declared a terrorist organization in America and banned! Then maybe we wouldn't see all these pardons of convicted criminals at the presidential level as we've seen from Watergate, Iran Contra and now Plamegate!

I don't know if it is a mistake for Floridians or not, but it is nice to see people getting involved in the process again. Perhaps the complacency of our generation will disappear with the next. One can only hope.

Although this article is encouraging for a true, open, and valid democratic process, I still have paranoid misgivings. As long as the governor and the Secretary of State are Republican, I would not put anything past the republicans as far as election shenanigans.
I'm almost hoping for an impartial UN monitoring team in place in Florida on election day to make sure there are no dirty tricks.
