Kucinich is pressing ahead with impeachment. IMHO he should be the leader of the House. The video shows the attitude from most conservatives like O'Reilly. They just want it to go away. They claim it's just a waste of time. They shout over or try to ignore the facts, but the noise is getting louder. It will soon be upon the judiciary to finally settle this nagging question. "What and how much did Bush know about the failed intelligence that put us into this war with Iraq?" and "Is he indeed guilty of war crimes?"

        I have to say spinward has it completely backward. The clinton impeachment was about clothing, a stained blue dress instead of mismatched socks. Bush is more like ignoring the weather report that called for icebergs, putting a blind person in the crows nest because he was a buddy who needed a job, recklessly increasing speed, and then after the iceberg was hit staying in the grand ballroom to tell stories to the guests. Recently historians have found that the steel rivets were substandard to the contract which sounds just like something haliburton would do.

        It's all ceremonial anyhow. It's just for the historical record.
        Congress could vote to impeach Andrew Jackson for Indian atrocities and remove him from the $20 bill...
        But, at least with Bush it could be done while he's alive to suffer the humiliation and make certain that no buildings, highways, airports, bridges or schools ever be named after him. (just a sewerage treatment plant, which is going very nicely and has 25% more signatures than needed to be on the ballot this fall)

I for one would rather nobody had or used and weapons of mass destruction, but I wouldn't risk one American life or spend one American dollar if they all gassed the entire Middle East.         The facts on that were simple: Saddam had certain obligations under the armistice. He was, at that time, behaving in such a fashion as to make a mockery of those obligations.
        And if you believe that this is not serious because it's not on your front doorstep, then congratulations! That's what America though of Hitler's rearmament. And his march into the Rhineland. and his invasion of Austria. And his invasion of Czechoslovakia. And, even, his invasion of Poland and then of Russia.
        There comes a point at which one must say "No more." I believe that Saddam needed to be warned (which he was) that he was approaching that point in 1998.

        As long as they are in their own country and offer no dredible threat to America we have NO business interfering without an INVITATION from a reasonable, democratic-minded insurgency with some hope of success. Invading a country for defying the UN is the pot calling the kettle black. We did the right thing by avoiding WWII until it was thrust upon us. We should ALWAYS avoid war until it is thrust upon us, and NEVER initiate it ourselves, without exception. What someone else does in his own country is not our business unless it involves our peaceful citizens or our Embasy nor is it the business of the UN.

The Clinton BJ impeachment was a big money and time waster for Congress and the U.S. taxpayers (and remember the slimy Maryland Republicans who failed to prosecute Tripp for illegal recording, which would have killed the Washington Republican effort to impeach, since it wouldn't have gone as far as lying to a grand jury in the first place).
      Let's not throw away our hard-earned money and waste psychic energy on another prick--on something that should properly be handled by the international community.

      I've noticed a number of heated arguments going on about who the real bad guys are in the current conflict in Iraq. Both sides gleefully point their fingers at the other guy. The problem is, so far neither side has been able to come up with a way to quantify evil. Evil is such a subjective concept and how it's viewed seems to depend on which side of the debate your personal alliances lay.
      I suggest that we forget the philosophic and ideological sparring and cut to the chase. Let's try to leave personal opinions at the door and look at the problem empirically. I suggest evil can be measured by the pound.

        On September 11th, a group of Muslim extremists were responsible for killing approximately 3,000 innocent people. At an average weight of 150 pounds per person that means that the extremists were responsible for creating 450,000 lbs of evil.
        The latest statistic I have for current US and coalition losses is 4,435. Now to be completely fair let's assume that the average soldier weighs 200 pounds. That means the extremists were responsible for creating an additional 887,000 lbs of evil.
        Adding the two numbers together we get a total of 1,337,000 lbs of evil. The militants killed 7,435 people with a total weight of 1,337,000 lbs.

        How much evil have the Americans and the coalition created? To be more than fair to the coalition supporters, let's only use civilian casualties. The latest estimate I could locate was well over 100,000. Again to be fair, lets use that number and lets assume that the average Iraqi casualty only weight 100 lbs. (Remember Iraqis are unfamiliar with happy meals or whoppers).
        That means that by killing 100,000 innocent civilians the US and the coalition of the gullible have created 10,000,000 lbs of evil.
        So lets review, the Muslim extremists created 1,337,000 lbs of evil and the coalition have created 10,000,000 lbs. of evil. That's a difference of 8,663,000 lbs or a margin of 748% more evil committed by the coalition forces.
        So there you have it. You can argue ideologies or philosophies, but you can't argue with the numbers. A pound is a pound and which ever side of the debate you are on.

    Try a net the size of the contiguous US. The latest polls I can find have almost 40% in support of impeachment.
    I suspect that given Bush's 28% approval rating, the former number is only so low because people figure that he's going soon, anyway.

You people are so amusing. No one is getting Impeached. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. But I hope Kucinich keeps plodding along. It keeps him off the Streets, and out of the bars, and it makes for a good laugh every day. Never give up!! Is the Mother ship here yet?

Why is injest trying every trick in the book to discredit the story, but neither of you address the reason Kucinich is repeatedly bringing impeachment up on the floor? The reason is apparent to me that you deep down inside know as well as Bush to give the subject any recognition will make people ask questions. So the tactic is to use words like, silly, spaceman, tin foil hat, etc. That's in hope that no one will ever look at what's being said. People are becoming aware, however, and the more you and others try to cover it up, the more your own credibility comes into question.

    Conyers may hold hearings, but plans no action on impeachment
    All Rep. Dennis Kucinich wants is a chance to present his case. The Ohio Democrat has made a crusade of his efforts to impeach George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, only to be ignored and ridiculed by many of his fellow Democrat lawmakers.
    While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still sees the prospect of actually booting the president from office as "off the table," discussing the idea now at least seems OK.
    Sometime before its August recess, the House Judiciary Committee likely will hold a hearing to consider Kucinich's impeachment appeal, CQ Politics reports:

      Who ridiculed him? Yes, they will hear his appeal and he will continue to bring it up until the rest of Congress regains their senses. Impeachment doesn't necessarily mean kicking him out of office. Clinton was impeached and served out his term. It needs to be done, or if a Democratic President gets into office and pulls off some scandal, I don't want to hear one peep out you guys. Mark your words now. If Obama takes office, you will never, I repeat never get the opportunity again. The precedent that this President has set has placed the bar to high for anyone to ever impeach a President again. Unless he's caught on tape murdering someone in cold-blood.

    Look, impeaching a president strains a nation and engaging the process "quixotically" (word of the day goes to mcgrievysr) is not something I can support as EVERY president can be subject to enough dug-up crap to prevent our nation from moving forward.
    I feel that the resources involved are better spent elsewhere ESPECIALLY when we have so many other trials that are much more worthy of our attention in these difficult times.

A war that's costing us trillions of dollars, destabilizing the world economy, and costing millions of lives. The stuff you want to concentrate on is saving yourself a few dollars at the gas pump.         Simple. I didn't like the guy. He was a pervert that was accused of rape three times while holding the office and he had a clear disrespect for women and a disdain for the legal process that also cost him his law license. He was guilty of perjury, lying to a grand jury, and subverting justice.
