I have played with the electoral map punching in what I think is possible on election night. The 269 tie scenario came up several times. It might happen.

Imagine Obama chooses Sam Nunn, each guy gets 269, and because the House decides with each STATE delegation getting one vote (yes, Wyoming would be as important as California) a deadlock win which no on gets the 26 votes (a tied delegation equals no vote). Because the VP is decided by the Senate, it would be most likely that Nunn would be VP and thus Acting President. Would that get the lefties in an uproar? Nunn is more conservative than McCain!
