In the book "China 2030", there is a discussion about how China's economic growth is tied to resource acquisition. China has been building African infrastructure for a few years - I've posted about it before on Propeller.

This is a big deal for the future of Western nations. There will be an economic battle, and China intends to win it. All of our petty squabbles about whether to drill, where to drill, what kind of energy do we pursue, could easily become moot in two decades or less.

I posted a story today about Russia. They have also landed a big natural gas deal with Libya and Nigeria. As the thirst from these countries get greater their influence has to increase. Africans don't realize what a great resource they are sitting on. I wonder if they will wake up in time to realize they have been "shaken down" by countries who's sole interest is their resources.

        A little pre-mature, don't ya think?

Maybe I am reading you wrong, but you seem to revel in that comment? If so, you better think long and hard about what a Chineese led world would look like.

You like the government in TOTAL CONTROLL of the media?

You like a government that rolls over ITS OWN STUDENTS with TANKS?

Youl like a government the pollutes ITS OWN land so badly a thick haze you could cut with a knife hangs over it? Can you imagine how little regard it would have for YOUR land?

"And spin; DM is more of a supporter of McC than Obama, so yes I think you read him wrong.

He also offers a non Rep/Dem point of view, which is always welcome as there are many ways to view a fence, on both sides"

And your point is? Two people with basically the same ideas cant disagree from time to time? Where in my comment did I make this a Dem/Rep issue exactly?

You missed my point, being a non American he has a third party view, a different slant; that is all.

And if you are not open to other views, you are a dinosaur.

"And if you are not open to other views, you are a dinosaur."

Again, when did I say anything to suggest I am not open to other views? I am actually quite progressive on many social issues.

Excellent article, bigurn. Informative and thought provoking. I must admit that I don't pay enough attention to the situation in Africa. Thanks for posting and sending.
